Red Herring today
announced that Akamedia was named a Finalist of Red Herring 100 Europe, an award given to the top 100 private technology companies based in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region each year.
“This year’s impressive list of submissions from companies demonstrates Europe’s growing role as a major center of innovation in the global technology sector,” said Red Herring Editor-in-Chief Joel Dreyfuss. “The exceptional accomplishments of European technology startups and entrepreneurs are a testament to the rapid advancements being made in building the European innovation ecosystem.”
Red Herring’s lists of top private companies are an important part of the publication’s tradition of identifying new and innovative technology companies and entrepreneurs. Companies like Google, eBay, and Skype were spotted in their early days by Red Herring editors, and touted as leaders that would change the way we live and work.
Red Herring will honor the Red Herring 100 Europe Finalist companies at its Red Herring Europe 2008 event. Scheduled for April 14-16, at the Westin Dragonara

We are preparing a paramount coverage of the 2007 Cannes Film Festival in High Definition. All the stars, all the press conferences, the red carpets and some exclusive footages will be shot in an amazingly beautiful quality. The coverage will be available for all media usages: TV, Web, Mobile & IPTV. In 2006 for example, the full coverage was available on the French IPTV channel Freenews provided by the alternative ISP Free.
We think that broadcasters can make a big step forward by providing their audience with a unique VIP access in Video On Demand to the whole coverage of the Festival: The most exclusive days of the movie industry, as if you were an invited professional and an accredited journalist!

We just tested the beta version of Joost and we are amazed by the work they did on the user interface.
With Joost, you can browse the video content and the channels as if you were using a media center. The video quality is quite OK in full screen. But the killer idea is the fact that you can add kinda-widget-plug-ins on your screen that enable chating, rating, jabber and Gmail instant messaging... That is cool!
